Role Overview

Boom Supersonic is seeking a System Requirements Engineer to support and facilitate requirements elicitation, capture and manage activities for aircraft systems. You will work hand-in-hand with the program team and technical disciplines to facilitate the process for requirement capture and management for aircraft systems.

This role requires the capability to guide assigned technical discipline teams through the requirement capture and management process and provide exceptional support to those teams in validation and verification efforts of each requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Elicit, capture and write necessary technical requirements that meet Boom’s safety and quality standards

  • Ensure completeness of requirements

  • Allocate requirements to systems specifications, supplier specifications, and lower level component and part specifications

  • Establish and maintain traceability top-down and bottom-up throughout the requirement architecture

  • Plan and execute on validation of requirements by Discipline Owners, System Safety, and required technical subject-matter experts

  • Provide support to discipline teams in preparation for requirement verification activities and ensuring verification artifacts are captured and traceable to the requirements

  • Represent System Requirements Engineering in change board activities and design review meetings.

Required Education, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree in engineering with 5 to 12 years of experience in aerospace or an equivalent combination of technical education and aerospace experience

  • Experience eliciting, capturing and managing requirements on a complex, multi-tiered program.

  • Experience with requirements management tools (particularly with ENOVIA 3DX TRM, Jama, DOORS)

  • Experience working with stakeholders across the company (engineering, manufacturing, product management, program management, senior leadership, certification manager).

  • Excellent problem solving skills; can lead a team through solving hard, complex, ambiguous technical problems

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interface effectively with different groups internally and externally

Preferred Education, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience in supporting or leading requirements capture and management in concept and development phase of product/program life cycles

  • Experience managing requirements for an aircraft development or production program.

  • Experience working with certification agencies to track and manage requirements.
    Part 25 certification experience

  • Familiarity Guidelines for Development of Civil Aircraft and Systems per ARP 4754

  • Familiarity Aircraft Safety Assessment Process per ARP 4761

  • Familiarity Software/Complex Hardware Development Life Cycle per DO-178/254

  • Familiarity Environmental qualification per DO-160

Compensation

The Base Salary Range for this position is $96,000 - $150,000. Actual salaries will vary based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Boom’s total rewards package for employees. Other rewards may include performance bonuses, long term incentives/equity, an open PTO policy, and many other progressive benefits.

To conform to U.S. Government aerospace technology export regulations (ITAR and EAR), applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
