Color is a health technology company that makes population-scale healthcare programs accessible, convenient, and cost-effective for everyone. We work with governments, public health institutions, employers, and national health initiatives around the world to provide the tools for preventive health and infectious disease management, including testing, vaccinations, and other services.
Apply to join Color and do the most meaningful work of your career. If you are not sure that you’re 100% qualified but are up for the challenge - we want you to apply!
Our New Grad role is designed for students who have graduated between December 2022 and September 2023 with a planned start date between August 2023 and November 2023. Candidates who already have full-time industry software engineering experience should consider applying to our other engineering roles.
We are hiring recent software engineering graduates to join teams at Color working on new programs and technology that will define the future of the company. The work of these teams ranges from platforms that enable customer experiences and our at home testing programs to the experiences for our cancer screening program and the NIH’s All of Us program.
The Core Services team is responsible for several critical platforms that enable all programs at Color. These platforms include the services for notifications, account creation and user authentication, profile information, access management tooling and all things related to insurance - RTE (real time eligibility) checks, claim submission, coding and billing.
The LabX team owns the testing platform at Color, ensuring tests are delivered to your home, tested in the lab, and results are shown to you or your physician in a timely manner. This consists of bespoke APIs, third-party integrations, and infrastructure shared by other engineering teams. LabX regularly collaborates with the in-lab staff and other product teams to ensure a smooth and delightful physician, lab tech, and patient experience from top to bottom.
The Precision Care team is responsible for genomics at Color and for the All Of Us program. The genomics domain encompasses all clinical and research genetic testing, taking bioinformatics pipeline sequencing results through to end-user reports. The All Of Us research program is an ambitious partnership with the National Institutes of Health to deliver genetic testing results to at least a million US participants, and to provide data sets to researchers in order to accelerate precision medicine. The team owns a number of backend and frontend systems, and collaborates closely with LabX, bioinformatics, Core Services and other cross-functional teams at Color.
The Essential Care team owns Color’s Primary Care services as well as our Cancer Prevention and Screening programs. The team is responsible for delivering both the backend endpoints and frontend components to support these programs and own the experience end-to-end. Our Primary Care program launched in 2022 and works to identify and address cardiometabolic diseases, mental health conditions, and cancers. Just this year we have partnered with the American Cancer Society to build one of the first dedicated cancer prevention and screening programs that enable users to access screening solutions and connect to clinical services.
You will be onboarded not only into working on Color’s systems, but to the craft of software engineering by working alongside senior engineers on your team. They will help you build skills in engineering design, code review best practices, testing best practices, observability best practices and collaboration skills with product & engineering peers.

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Graduated between December 2022 and September 2023 with a 4-year degree in Computer Science
  • A passion for using software and technology to help save lives and prevent catastrophic disease, and want to apply your skills in the service of a greater mission.
  • You are excited about producing high quality code, and helping to eliminate unnecessary duplication and awkward workarounds.
  • You want to be on a team with rigorous engineering practices and discipline: code reviews, automated testing, logging, monitoring, alerting, etc.
  • You have some familiarity with web development and with modern web stacks including Python, Django, AWS, SQL, REST APIs, React, HTML5, CSS3, and ES6+.
  • You value collaboration with both technical and non-technical collaborators, incorporating their feedback to make decisions using code reviews, docs, wikis, meetings, and other channels as needed.
