About Finch
We are on a mission to revolutionize employment by building the infrastructure that powers every facet of work. To do this, we're looking for individuals who think about problems holistically and in-depth, who are relentlessly curious, self-starters, and determined to drive ideas from inception through to completion.
Finch is a Series B company backed by a fantastic set of firms, angels, and our developers including General Catalyst, Menlo Ventures, Homebrew, BoxGroup, YCombinator, Charley (1st business hire at Plaid), Sima (ex-Head of Biz Dev at Plaid), Henrique + Pedro (co-CEOs at Brex), Jeff + Wayne (co-CEOs at Digits), Immad (CEO at Mercury), Sam (CEO at Vouch Insurance), Karim (CTO at Ramp), and more.
About Our Team
We're a team of problem solvers who aren’t afraid to challenge assumptions. We value velocity, curiosity, empathy, and diverse perspectives. Everyone on the team is excited about the scope of the problems we address and the potential impact our work can have on the global workforce. We realize that the value we provide comes with great responsibilities, and therefore make security and privacy our highest priorities.
We come from a diverse set of backgrounds and each member brings different skills to the group. You're encouraged to apply even if your experience doesn't precisely match the job description. Your skills and potential will stand out—and set you apart—especially if your career has taken some extraordinary twists and turns.
The Role
The Developer Growth Engineer, Scaled Programs, is a specialized, high-impact role at the intersection of technical engineering, product marketing, and customer growth. You will own the technical health and growth strategy for Finch’s SMB customer base, leveraging programmatic, one-to-many tactics to drive adoption and scale. Your mission is to identify high-potential developers within our long-tail and nurture them into enterprise-scale partners. You will act as the architect of our programmatic engagement engine, ensuring that every developer has a clear, technical path to success with Finch’s API.

What You Will Do

  • Programmatic Growth Strategy: Design and execute one-to-many engagement tactics (savvy email campaigns, well-timed in-app modals, and high-impact webinars) to drive enablement and utilization across our massive SMB fleet.
  • Customer Tiering & Nurturing: Play detective to identify "hidden gem" customers with high growth potential, building specialized technical tracks that accelerate their journey from initial integration to full adoption.
  • Operational Scaling: Own the evolution of the Growth DSE function by building scalable workflows and tools that maintain our "long-tail moat" without increasing manual overhead.
  • Data-Driven Experimentation: Conduct cohort analysis and run experiments to determine which engagement mediums and technical content drive key metrics like API endpoint adoption and connection growth.
  • Expansion & Roadmap Influence: Partner with Account Management to spot expansion signals and execute technical conversions that graduate high-growth customers into dedicated higher-service tiers.
  • Technical Content Architecture: Act as our scale-focused educator, creating industry-specific technical guides that make interacting with complex HRIS/Payroll architectures feel like a breeze for developers.
  • Performance Tracking & Product Discovery: Own this segment’s impact and report directly to executive leadership; lead cross-department discovery to ensure the "Voice of the Customer" shapes the production roadmap.

Who You Are

  • Customer Empathizer: You thrive on engagement and continuous product discovery, yearning to understand business motivations so you can solve for the total customer experience.
  • The Technical Scaler: You possess a deep love for API ecosystems and a "scale-first" heart; you’d rather spend the time to solve a problem once for hundreds of customers than attack it manually each time.
  • Programmatic Expert: You are a pro at using firmographic and behavioral insights to segment audiences and trigger the right technical guidance at exactly the right time.
  • Analytical Problem Solver: You speak the language of data and are comfortable leveraging cohort analysis and key metrics to iterate, improve, and measure downstream revenue impact.
  • Excellent Communicator & Financial Fluency: You can translate "API-speak" into clear, compelling technical content that instills confidence in everyone from junior developers to C-suite executives. You’re able to translate how technical initiatives ladder up to revenue targets, connecting the dots between well-timed enablement campaigns and downstream impact on key business metrics.
  • Self-Directed & Methodical: You are exceptionally organized and "roll up your sleeves" to get things done, from researching tooling to building the foundation of a self-serve motion without needing a map for every step.
  • The "Friction Hunter": You have a visceral intolerance for bad developer experiences; you spot "paper cuts" in documentation or onboarding flows that others miss and fix them immediately.

  • Massive market: We’re building infrastructure in a $100B+ industry that touches every employer and employee in the world
