Quanta is an AI-powered accounting and finance platform that fixes a major frustration for businesses: stale and slow financial data. We can do in seconds what takes our competitors weeks, which is why we’re trusted by many of today’s fastest growing startups.
Today’s status quo is a cycle of painful finance data lag caused by manual and infrequent processes. We’re solving this by automating accounting from the ground up, and can already do in seconds what takes incumbents weeks to deliver. Our platform replaces outsourced manual work with software, and replaces their static, manually entered numbers with a live, contextual view of the business. Our goal is to achieve something currently impossible: enabling every business decision to be made with instant and complete clarity. In doing so, we can help every business thrive.

About us

We are a tight-knit team of 13, working fully in-person in downtown San Francisco.
Our team has spent our careers at the intersection of finance and technology. Between all of us, we’ve built accounting systems at Affirm, ledgers at Stripe and Robinhood, built previous companies from the ground up, passed CPA exams, and built finance teams from one to dozens. We’ve been founders, first finance hires, product leads, and founding engineers. We’ve led 0→1 launches and scaled systems to support billions in transactions. We understand our customers because we’ve been in their shoes, and care deeply about the future of finance that we’re building.

Design at Quanta

We believe great design is about clarity, trust, and system-level coherence. At Quanta, we treat interfaces as a tool for helping users feel in control of complexity.
You’ll find engineers who care deeply about product feel, a team that respects taste, and the space to shape systems that scale.
We're cultivating a design culture that's rigorous and foundational—focused on delivering craft and clarity at speed.

What you’ll do

Lay the foundation for design at Quanta
As our second design hire, you’ll help establish our design system—building components, patterns, and principles that scale with the product and team. You’ll also shape our design culture, tools, and workflows, setting a strong foundation for future designers to thrive.
Drive end-to-end product design
You’ll own the UI/UX across the full product lifecycle—from early concepts and flows to high-fidelity mocks and implementation details. You’ll work closely with engineers, founders, and domain experts to explore complex problems, define clear requirements, prototype solutions, and ship thoughtful, polished product experiences. We are small team that has not yet hired a Product Manager, which means this design role will play a central role in shaping what we build and why.
Invent new ways to interact with finance data—and shape what we build
You’ll develop a deep understanding of the accounting and finance domain, working closely with users and internal experts to surface real problems and opportunities. Your insights won’t just inform design—they’ll influence what goes on the roadmap. You’ll help define and prioritize product direction by identifying user needs, proposing new ideas, and designing intuitive ways for users to explore, manipulate, and act on complex financial data.
Build and scale user understanding
You’ll help lead user research efforts—talking to external users and internal experts (engineers, data scientists, and accountants), synthesizing insights, and turning them into usable frameworks. You’ll help build the systems and processes to keep user understanding alive across the team. That includes maintaining persona documentation, onboarding new teammates into the domain and customer mindset, and ensuring design decisions stay grounded in real user needs.
Move fast and learn faster
Balance speed and polish, with a bias to making pragmatic trade-offs to ship fast and learn through rapid iteration. Within your first few days here, you will be demoing and iterating on designs with the team.

What we’re looking for

5+ years of experience in product design, ideally including time at a fast-paced startup or on a small, high-impact team, and fluency in Figma.
You are skilled in prototyping complex user flows, using both low and high-fidelity tools
Strong product judgment – You think deeply about user needs, edge cases, and long-term simplicity.
Self-directed and focused in ambiguous environments – You’re comfortable navigating uncertainty, setting your own direction, and juggling multiple priorities without getting overwhelmed or losing sight of what matters most. You know how to scope work to deliver value quickly, balancing short-term needs with long-term vision.
Excellent collaboration skills – You communicate clearly, coordinate across functions, and bring people along as partners.
Fluency in complex domains – You enjoy ramping up on technical or abstract spaces and translating them into intuitive experiences, ideally within niche B2B SaaS. You are a strong systems thinker.
Comfortable running user research – Ideally, you’ve led interviews and discovery efforts, crafting personas and turning insights into product decisions.
You are excited about working in-person with a collaborative team in San Francisco.
Bonus Points for experience with frontend code, familiarity with SQL, and/or experience with accounting/finance tooling.
