Thread AI

Thread AI is focused on building an AI orchestration engine and is looking for dedicated individuals to join its growing team. Our goal is to make infrastructure simple for enterprises and public sector agencies seeking to get the most from AI and AI Agents.

Headquartered in New York, our growing team is a group of experts who have a track record of creating and executing against complex workflows and infrastructure.

We are a lean team of engineers, strategists, and product thinkers - with a co-founding team that spent the better part of a decade building AI/ML products at Palantir. We believe that a small dedicated team with a flat structure and collaborative culture can move faster and build better products than large hierarchical organizations. We believe that if AI is going to change the way we work, we have an obligation to make it trustworthy, verifiable, and human-centered. That belief shapes everything we build and how we operate.

About the Role

We are looking for a Business Operations Strategist to build the internal operating system of Thread AI. This is a role where you look at a company that is scaling from 30 to 50+ people, serving Fortune 500 customers across regulated industries and public sector agencies, and ask: What systems need to exist that don't yet? What decisions are we making by default that we should be making by design? Where are we spending time that we shouldn't be and where are we underinvesting?

You will be the person who constructs order out of ambiguity. You'll build the processes, tools, and operational rhythms by thinking from first principles about what actually matters versus what merely feels urgent.

What You'll Do

You'll scale the internal operations of a company at an inflection point. Expect to traverse everything from high-level strategy to execution in the same day, often in the same hour.

  • Build scalable operational infrastructure: Formalize and implement the systems that govern how we plan, prioritize, allocate resources, track commitments, and communicate internally.

  • Construct and manage cross-functional rhythms: Design the cadences that keep engineering, product, commercial, and leadership aligned. Make sure information flows to where it needs to go, decisions get made with the right context, and nothing critical falls through the cracks.

  • Remove friction and automate the mundane: Identify operational drag and systematically eliminate it. Build tooling, automate workflows, and consolidate processes so the team can focus on the work that actually requires human judgment.

  • Support new market entrance: Perform targeted research on new GTM opportunities, verticals, or areas of growth. Articulate value propositions and manage logistics for new sales and marketing initiatives.

What We’re Looking For

We care far more about how you think than what you've done. That said, here are the traits and experiences that matter:

  • First-principles orientation. You question assumptions, decompose problems to their root, and build solutions from the ground up. When you see a process that exists for historical reasons rather than good reasons, you flag it - and fix it.

  • Comfort with ambiguity. You thrive in environments where the problem isn't well-defined and the path forward isn't obvious. You don't equate pivoting with failing. You've operated in contexts where you had to figure out what to work on before figuring out how to do it.

  • Bias toward action with depth of thought. You move fast, but not carelessly. You can ship a v1 of a process by the end of week while simultaneously thinking about what the v3 needs to look like. You understand that speed without direction is just chaos.

  • Range. You can go deep on a financial model in the morning, redesign an internal communication workflow over lunch, and prep a board deck in the afternoon. You're not precious about the type of work - you care about whether it matters.

  • Intellectual honesty. You'd rather surface a hard truth than protect a comfortable narrative. You can disagree with a founder, back it up with evidence, and do it without ego. You understand that the outcome matters more than who gets the credit.

  • Learning velocity. You pick things up fast. Thread AI operates across financial services, defense, energy, hospitality, and healthcare. You don't need domain expertise in all of these - but you need the ability to get credibly deep into unfamiliar territory quickly.

Qualifications

  • 4–7 years of experience in business operations, strategy, management consulting, or a similar high-rigor environment

  • Demonstrated ability to build processes and systems from scratch, not just optimize existing ones

  • Strong analytical foundation - you're comfortable with financial modeling, data analysis, and making decisions grounded in evidence

  • Excellent written communication; you can distill complexity into clarity for audiences ranging from engineers to board members

  • Experience in a high-growth startup or technology environment is preferred, but not required. What matters is that you've operated in contexts that demanded independent thinking and end-to-end ownership

Why Thread AI

You'll join a company at the moment where operational decisions compound. The systems you build will define how Thread AI scales - not just in headcount, but in how we think, decide, and execute. You'll work alongside a founding team that spent years at the intersection of AI and enterprise infrastructure, and a team of builders from Palantir, Goldman Sachs, Google, Uber, and MIT who chose this problem because they believe it's one of the most important in enterprise technology.

We believe that in an age where AI can generate content so easily, focusing on what is human, what is true, and what is verifiable is more important than ever. That philosophy applies to our product and it applies to how we run the company. We want someone who holds our operations to the same standard of rigor, transparency, and intentionality that we hold our technology.

If you believe that the hardest operational problems in AI infrastructure deserve the same intellectual rigor as the technology itself, we want to meet you.

We’re committed to creating a space where our employees can bring their full selves to work and have equal opportunity to succeed. So regardless of race, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion, origin, ability, or age, we encourage you to apply!

Don’t meet every single requirement? If you’re excited about this role and the company but your past experience doesn’t align with every qualification, we still encourage you to apply anyway - we'd love to get to know you and see if there's a place for you at Thread!

Compensation

The base pay range for this role is $110,000 – $210,000 per year + Equity.

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or national or U.S. lawful, permanent resident.

This is a full-time, in-person position based at our New York City office.
